#2 Women’s Soccer comes from behind to earn first 11-0 start in program history

Salisbury, N.C. —- The 2nd-ranked Catawba College women's soccer team overcame their first deficit of the season on Wednesday afternoon, defeating North Georgia 2-1 to move to 11-0 for the first time in program history. 

 

TEAM STATS

- Catawba out-shot North Georgia 20-4

- The Catawba Indians held an advantage in shots on goal 6-1

- Each team took 7 corner kicks on the afternoon

-The Nighthawks got the lone yellow card 

 

INDIVIDUAL LEADERS

- Sydney Jimmo scored the game-tying goal and also assisted

- Helen Summerell netted the game-winner on a team-high three shots on goal

- Bree Ehmer dished out assists on both goals

 

HOW IT HAPPENED

FIRST HALF

- Summerell recorded the first shot on goal in the 12th minute

- UNG's Natalie Maguire scored in the 33rd minute to give the Nighthawks the early lead

 

SECOND HALF

- Catawba earned a free kick just outside the box, but the ensuing shot was saved

- Jimmo struck for the game-tying goal off Ehmer's assist less than three minutes into the half

- Summerell scored the eventual winner off Ehmer and Jimmo assists in the 64th minute

- Ehmer put a shot on goal in the 72nd minute, but the try was saved

- Sumerell got a breakaway opportunity in the final minutes, but her shot on goal was saved

- Catawba out-shot UNG 16-2 in the second half
