
Mars Hill takes down Coker
The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (5-5, 3-2 SAC) defeated Coker (1-7, 0-5 SAC) by a score of 11-6 Saturday evening.
HARTSVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (5-5, 3-2 SAC) defeated Coker (1-7, 0-5 SAC) by a score of 11-6 Saturday evening.
The Lions led 2-1 after the first 15 minutes of play with goals from Samantha Newton and Sydney Joyce. In the highest scoring quarter of the game, Mars Hill outscored Coker 4-2. The Lions got two goals from Mina Muirhead and a goal apiece from Nevaeh Louden and Chandler Werner.
Mars Hill continued to pull away from the Cobras in the third, potting another three goals and carrying a 9-5 lead into the final stanza. Joyce netted her second goal of the contest while Alexa Tazzetta struck twice in the third.
The Lions closed out the contest outscoring Coker 2-1 in the fourth with goals coming from Tazzetta and Newton.
Newton led all players with four points (2g, 2a) followed by three from Tazzetta (3g) and Joyce (2g, 1a).
Lauren Bryner made seven saves to pick up her third win of the season.
Mars Hill returns to action on Saturday, March 25 when they face Wingate. First draw on the road is set for 1 p.m.
