JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (13-6, 5-5 SAC) defeated Carson-Newman (9-9, 5-4 SAC) in five sets (25-23, 30-28, 17-25, 17-25, 15-9) Tuesday night on the road.
The Lions hit a team-high .280 in the deciding frame, recording nine kills on 25 attempts with Kelly Jakaitis recording the game-winning kill. Carson-Newman hit a game-low .037 in the fifth.
Mars Hill took the first two sets including the marathon 30-28 second set that saw them record a game-high 16 kills in the frame, hitting .145. Carson-Newman responded by taking the third and fourth, both by scores of 25-17. In the fourth, the Eagles hit a game-high .333.
Jana Cuk hit a game-high .361 while Erin Edwards led the Eagles, hitting .317.
The Eagles committed 32 attack errors to the Lions' 21. Mars Hill amassed 15 blocks (30 block assists) to the Eagles nine (1 solo block and 16 block assists).
