Women's Volleyball Swept In Home Opener Against University of Charleston

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Catawba College women's volleyball team was defeated by the University of Charleston (W.V.) in their first home game of the season 25-19, 25-22, 25-16 on Wednesday night.
After dropping the first set, Catawba found themselves down by eight points at the end of the second set. The Catawba Indians clawed their way all the way back to make it a one point game, 22-21. The Golden Eagles proceeded to score the next three of four points to take the second set, and kept they that momentum going into the third set. UCWV controlled set three behind a .450 hitting percentage and finished things off, 25-16.
Ashley Johnson and Kelcie Love combined for 22 of the team's 37 kills, and Love hit .348 on the night. Senior setter Dara Kane recorded a double-double with 33 assists and 10 digs in the contest.
The women's volleyball team will be back at home Friday night when the Bears of Lenoir-Rhyne come to Goodman Gym at 6:00 p.m.
