
#6 Women’s Tennis matches single-season win record with sweep at #50 C-N
Jefferson City, Tenn. —- The 6th-ranked Catawba College women's tennis team matched its program record for wins in a season on Monday at 50th-ranked Carson-Newman, extending the team's unbeaten record to 18-0 on the season with a perfect 10-0 mark in South Atlantic Conference play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
DOUBLES
- Lili Drukerova and Ami Miya earned a quick 6-2 win in the top-ranked doubles match
- Tina Gomes and Nika Dundovic helped clinch the doubles point with a 6-2 win in the #3 doubles match
- Rin Igarashi and Sofia Antolini led 4-3 at the clinch point
SINGLES
- Drukerova cruised to a 6-1, 6-3 victory in the #4 singles match
- Antolini remained unbeaten in singles play this season with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over the top-ranked Eagles foe
- Anna Wise picked up a 6-4, 6-1 victory at #2s to help clinch the match
- Igarashi led 6-4, 2-1 in the #5 singles match at the stoppage point
- Vaishnavi Venkatesh neared a win, 6-4, 5-4 when the clinch point was reached
- Miya won the opening set 7-6 in a tiebreak and trailed 3-2 in the second before the end of play

- Catawba heads to Anderson tomorrow for a chance to clinch at least a share of the SAC title; they square off with the Trojans at 11 a.m.
