Lions sweep day one of PBC/SAC Crossover

The Mars Hill volleyball team (16-7) defeated both Georgia College (8-16) and Augusta (14-6) on Friday night in day one of the PBC/SAC Crossover.

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (16-7) defeated both Georgia College (8-16) and Augusta (14-6) on Friday night in day one of the PBC/SAC Crossover.

GAME ONE: MHU 3, GC 0

The Lions swept Georgia College (25-21, 25-18, 25-22) to open the tournament.

Mars Hill hit .198 over the three sets including a game-high .300 in the second set that saw the Lions post 13 kills on 30 attempts. The Bobcats committed 27 attack errors, hitting .046. The Lions were credited with 10 blocks with Jana Cuk leading the way (1 BS, 6 BA) on that front.

GAME TWO - MHU 3, AUG 1

The Lions closed out the first day of competition with a 3-1 win (25-14, 25-21, 23-25, 25-19) over Augusta.

Mars Hill took the first two sets before the Jaguars reeled off four of the last five points in the third to force a fourth frame. The Lions opened the fourth set on a 6-0 run and built their lead to as many as eight (23-15).

Mars Hill hit a game-high .500 in the first set with 16 kills on 30 attempts. The Lions hit .196 in the game to Augusta's .121.
