The Mars Hill softball team (6-30, 3-19 SAC) was swept by Limestone (29-15, 12-12 SAC) on Wednesday afternoon by scores of 5-0 and 4-0.

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill softball team (6-30, 3-19 SAC) was swept by Limestone (29-15, 12-12 SAC) on Wednesday afternoon by scores of 5-0 and 4-0.
GAME ONE: LU 5, MHU 0
Following two scoreless innings, Limestone broke through in the third, scoring three runs. Natalie Ruth scored off of an Ashley Parnell RBI groundout. A double by Katie Wilbur and a single later in the frame by Ruthie Jackson plated two more runs to see the Saints lead 3-0 heading into the fourth.
They tacked on two more runs off of a Mars Hill error in the top of the fifth.
Wilbur and Carley Womack led all players with two hits. The Lions recorded four hits in the contest off the bats of Maggie Langheim, Farley Park, Katie Todd, and Alyssa Christopher.
Haley White struck out four for the complete game win. Kayla Gallagher was credited with the loss, allowing five runs on five hits while striking out three.
GAME TWO: LU 4, MHU 0
Mirroring the start to game one, Limestone opened the scoring in the top of the third as Katie Wilbur grounded out, allowing Carley Womack to score. On a Lions' throwing error later in the frame, Maddie Baker crossed home for the second run of the contest.
Wilbur picked up her second RBI of the contest in the top of the fifth with a single to left that plated Baker for her second run of the game. In the top of the sixth, Caroline Ruth added another insurance run with a single that scored Faith Callaway.
Maggie Langheim and Deja Smith picked up the lone hits for Mars Hill in the contest. Baker led all players with two hits and two runs scored.
Caroline Ruth struck out 10 batters for the complete game win. Smith was credited with the loss, allowing four runs on eight hits.
The Lions close out the 2022 season on the road on Saturday, April 23 when they take on UVA Wise. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
