Volleyball Battles, Falls to Limestone in Four

HARTSVILLE, S.C. - Coker University volleyball battled but fell to Limestone Thursday night (Oct. 21) in South Atlantic Conference action by a score of 3-1.

The Cobras battled to win the first set 25-23, as the two teams battled point-for-point all the way to the end. The Saints went ahead 9-4, before the Cobras would eventually rally to take a 16-15 lead in the set. The teams locked up at 18-18 and 22-22, before the Cobras won three out of the final five points to take the opening set.

The Saints would go on to win the next three sets 25-22, 25-21 and 25-20 respectively to take the match.

Emily Everton and Lauren Loveday each registered a team-high 17 kills in the match, with Loveday notching a new career-high. Chelsey Blume also registered a season-best 14 kills in the match, while four others also contributed kills. Rami Mullen dished out a team-high 29 assists in the contest, while Ashley Carson added 20 and Makayla Harris had two and Alex Williams chipped in one. Blume and Loveday each had two service aces in the match for Coker. Everton completed her double-double with a career-high 18 digs in the contest, while Harris also had 16 and eight others posted digs in the match. Blume registered all four of Coker's solo blocks, while Alyssa Lake tied a career-high with five block assists in the match, while Blume and and Naomi Earl-Reyes each had four block assists. Three others helped in the blocking effort in the match.

The Cobras return to action on Tuesday (Oct. 26) at Fayetteville State in non-conference action. First serve is set for 6:00 p.m. from Fayetteville, N.C. with video and live stats available at www.cokercobras.com.
