YOUNG HARRIS, Ga. - The Mars Hill softball team (4-4) was swept by Young Harris (9-2) by scores of 5-2 and 6-2 Wednesday afternoon on the road.
GAME ONE: YHC 5, MHU 2
Mars Hill opened the scoring in the first inning as Meghan Murphy drew a bases loaded walk, plating Micki Maxson.
Young Harris plated three runs in the bottom of the second and added two in the third.
With the bases loaded again in the top of the fifth for the Lions, an errant Young Harris pitch hit Leah Grimes, putting her on first. Maxson scored her second run of the game.
Zoie Pistel led the Lions with two hits.
GAME TWO: YHC 6, MHU 2
The Lions trailed 1-0 entering the top of the third. Farley Park gave the Lions the 2-1 lead with a two-run home run to left.
Young Harris responded by scoring two runs in the fourth, retaking the lead. In the bottom of the sixth, they tacked on three more runs, highlighted by Hannah Carey's two-run single up the middle.
Park led the Lions with two hits and two RBI.
The Lions return to the diamond on Friday, February 16 when they face King on the road. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
