ANDERSON, S.C. - The Anderson University softball team used a total of 24 hits to score 22 runs on its way to defeating nonconference CIAA opponent Johnson C. Smith winning game one, 8-0, and claiming the nightcap, 14-0, on Friday evening at the AU Softball Complex.

Leading the Trojans at the plate on the day was senior Rachael Barefield going a perfect 4-for-4 with a double and three RBI. Junior Joshlyn Martin went 4-for-6 with two doubles and four RBI while junior Breanna Hagerty batted 3-for-5 with two home runs and five RBI. Senior Cailah Niles went 2-for-4 while freshmen Harlie Duncan and Mackenzie Haver each singled going 1-for-1.
Freshman Kayla Pepper (3-1) went the distance in game one giving up six hits and striking out three in the shutout win.
Senior Randee Bettis (2-1) was the game two starter giving up just one hit while striking out four in a complete game shutout.
