Baseball Sweeps on the Road

 

Emory, VA. – Coker took the road to face Emory and Henry in a South Atlantic Conference three-game series. Coker took the series and look to keep things rolling into the new week.

 

Game 1 W (13-8)- Coker was on the attack early in the game with Caleb McCants getting a sacrifice fly in the top of the 3rd scoring Jaylen Mack and putting Coker up 1-0. Ashby Vining kept it rolling in the 4th. Knowing just one run wasn't going to cut it Vining came up big with a swing of the bat he sent the ball out of the park scoring Donavan Frayer and Nick Leonard putting the Cobras up 4-0. Emory and Henry came back to take the lead at the bottom of the 4th. McCants came up big putting the ball in play and getting Adam Wilkerson home tying the game 5-5. Kody Hanna homered in the top of the 8th tying the game back up 6-6. Leonard grounded out in the 9th scoring Mack and giving the Cobras the lead. Frayer singled after him into the outfield scoring Wilkerson and Cameron Ferrell. Vining singled into the right center and scored Frayer and Hanna. Eli Hopkins put the finishing touches on game one with a homer down the left field line scoring Vining and putting the Cobras up 13-76. Coker eventually took the game with a 13-8 victory.

 

Game 2 W (9-7)- The Wasp took the lead early in game 2 but Coker kept themselves in it. After falling down 0-3 Mack grounded out on a bunt scoring Frayer and putting Coker on the board 1-3. Hanna homered into right center scoring McCants and tying the game at 3 a piece. Frayer got in on the attack singling into right field scoring Leonard at the top of the 5th and taking the lead in the game 4-3. Emory and Henry took the lead and looked to close things out in game 3 but the Cobras did not go down without a fight. Leonard doubled scoring Ferrell and Jacob Yarberry and cutting into the lead 5-7. Hanna found some grass in the outfield as he singled and scored Leonard and Ferrell tying the game 7-7. Ferrell wasn't done just yet as he singled into right field in the top of the 7th scoring Wilkerson and Hopkins and taking the lead as well as going on to win the game 9-7.
