MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's soccer team (3-4-3, 1-4-2 SAC) was defeated by Wingate (7-2-1, 4-2 SAC) by a score of 4-0 Friday evening.
Angela Maino opened the scoring in the first half, tapping home her second of the year. The ball, flicked on target by Manu Baptista Felipe was batted away by Megan D'Amore before the loose rebound was tapped in by Maino.
The Bulldogs tacked on three more goals in the second as Yasmin Cowley, Caroline Peters, and Lydia Radonavitch each scored. Felipe picked up her second assist on the final goal of the contest.
Wingate outshot the Lions 14-2 in the second half of play and 19-5 overall. Sophie Husted led all players with six shot attempts. Carla Humera and Samantha Swinson led Mars Hill with two apiece.
D'Amore made six saves in her first career start.
Mars Hill hosts Anderson on Wednesday, October 11 at 5 p.m.
