Augusta, Ga. – The Anderson University Softball team bounced back in game two to keep from being swept by nonconference opponent Augusta dropping game one, 11-2 (5) and winning the nightcap, 6-2, on Sunday afternoon at Jaguar Field. The Trojans move to 6-1 overall, while the Jaguars move to 2-6.
"The first game got away from us in a hurry, but played well the second game," said head coach Tommy Hewitt. "Harlie pitched well only gave up three hits and Sarah came in to get the save."
"We don't like it, but a split is better than getting swept," added Hewitt.
Game 1 Summary

The Trojans gave up all 11 runs in the bottom of the first inning. Freshman Laken Maxwell took her first loss of the season, pitching 0.2 innings. Maxwell gave up four hits, which included two home runs. Senior Sarah Middleton pitched 3.2 inning, giving up two hits and no runs. Anderson batters were stymied by Augusta's Mary Tillman. Tillman gave up just three hits, while striking out seven.

Anderson held Augusta scoreless through five innings, giving up two runs in the sixth inning. The Trojan scored two runs in the third, one run in the fourth and three runs in the seventh inning. Senior Harlie Duncan gave up just three hits, while pitching 5.2 innings. Duncan was relieved in the fifth inning by fellow senior Sarah Middleton. Middleton pitched 1.1 innings, giving up zero hits.
