Softball gets the Senior Day sweep over Catawba

HARTSVILLE, S.C.- The Coker University softball team took down Catawba 9-1 (5 Innings) and then 13-7 to get the Senior Day sweep. 

 

Game one

 

Catawba would strike first in the third inning from a RBI sacrifice fly to put them up 1-0.

In the bottom half of the inning the Cobras would even things right back up from Ariana Fair's bunt single that scored Ava Jay all the way from first by way of a throwing error on Catawba's catcher. 

Coker would score the go-ahead run from Delaney Eaves no out drawn walk to score Kayla Oswell's lead off single in the fourth. Coker would score eight runs on six RBI's in the fourth to take game one 9-1 in just five innings. 

 

Isabelle Mullen (3-5) picked up the win for the Cobras in the circle, only allowing one run over 4.1 innings pitched. 

 

Game Two

 

Catawba would jump out to a 2-0 lead early in the first from a home run.

Coker would scratch into Catawba's lead in the bottom half of the inning from Bailey Douglas's two-out RBI single down the left field line, scoring Ariana Fair. Julie Hilliard's single up the middle would score Douglas to tie things up at 2-2. Coker would gain the lead from Eaves RBI walk to bring in Kayla Oswell. The Cobras would be able to draw four walks in the inning to get ahead 4-2. 

 

Ariana Fair would come all the way around to home from first from Chloe Pelham's ground out then scoring on the Catawba fielding error to put Coker up 5-2.

 

Catawba would score two in the third from a 2 RBI home run.

Jay's sacrifice fly to left would bring home Brooklynn Stueness' triple giving back the Cobras two run lead. Pelham's two-out RBI single up the middle would score Arianna Fair's walk to put Coker up 7-4. With the two-out magic continuing for the Cobras, Kayla Oswell would lace an RBI single through the left side to score Pelham.

 

Catawba would scrape across a run in the fourth to bring them within three. 

In the bottom half with two-outs,  Ariana Fair's single through the right side would bring home Delaney Eaves to put Coker's lead back at four. 

 

The Cobras would keep adding on to their lead in the fifth from Bailey Douglas's lead off home run over the left center fence.

 

In the sixth, Ariana Fair would make a SportsCenter worthy grab in right field when she would rob Catawba of the would have been three run home run to end the sixth.
