HOW IT HAPPENED

First Set

After spotting the Cavs the opening point, three kills from Curran and an attack by Williams powered a 4-0 run to make it 4-1 early on for Limestone. UVA Wise rallied with three straight markers to tie the set, but Limestone used a 5-2 spurt, sparked by Curran's fifth kill, to push the lead to 9-6 a few moments later.

The Cavaliers responded, however, with six straight points to grab their first lead of the day, 12-9, but a hammer by Wilcox Nanai and an assisted block from both Wilcox Nanai and Lousignont bookended a 4-0 run to put Limestone back on top, 13-12. UVA Wise would keep pace though, pulling ahead, 20-18, late.

The Blue and Gold would come storming back down the stretch as a kill from Lousignont started a 6-3 run that put the visitors at set point, 24-23. Following a timeout by the Cavaliers, a rally between the two teams went back-and-forth before Curran sent a solid shot off a defender to give the Saints a 25-23 win.

Second Set

A pair of a attacks by Williams helped the Saints split the first 10 points with UVA Wise to open the second set before a kill from Wilcox Nanai and an ace by Lousignount sparked a 6-1 run to put Limestone in front, 11-6. Following a timeout by the Cavs, they would cut the deficit to 11-8 behind back-to-back points, but massive swings by Curran and Williams powered a 3-0 spurt to give the Saints a 14-8 edge.

The Cavaliers put together a 5-2 counterattack, cutting the lead to 16-13, but Lousignont and Blas both found holes in the defense to start a 7-0 run. Wilcox Nanai added a kill while junior Madi delBosque (Boca Raton, Fla.) tallied an ace for the Saints before Yeager iced the set, 25-17, with a kill off a Wise overpass.

Third Set

The Blue and Gold stormed out of the gates in the third as a massive swing from Blas and two rare kills by Gardella gave Limestone a 5-0 advantage. Blocks from Curran and Lousignont and a pair of aces from Carpenter and Harris helped the Saints extend its cushion to a comfortable 17-5 margin late in the set.

Williams and Lousignont each added two kills during that stretch for the Saints before a kill by senior Morgan Hnatiuk (Weeki Wachee, Fla.) and Curran put the visitors in front by 12 points. UVA Wise cut the lead in half, 22-11, down the stretch but a block and a kill by Wilcox Nanai sealed the 3-0 sweep, 25-11.

TURNING POINT

Limestone rallied in a closely contested opening set, taking a 1-0 match lead behind a 7-3 run to complete the come-from-behind win, and then used a 7-0 run in the second set to take a commanding 2-0 advantage. The Saints used that momentum in the third, pulling away early to complete the 3-0 sweep.
