Women’s Soccer Blanks Coker; 3-0

ANDERSON, S.C. - An early goal by junior Lauren Allan set the tone for the Anderson women's soccer team on its way to a 3-0 route over South Atlantic Conference opponent Coker on Wednesday evening at Trojan Stadium.

With the win, the Trojans ended a three match skid picking up their first SAC victory while moving to 2-3-1 overall and 1-1 in conference play. Coker falls to 1-4-1 overall and 0-2 in SAC action.

Allan got Anderson off to a fast start scoring in the seventh minute off of a corner kick by freshman Fanny Karlsson. The strong right-footed kick found the high corner of the net to put the Black and Gold up 1-0.

In the 31st minute, junior Lexxi Longmore scored off of a direct kick just outside the 18. The goal was Longmore's first of her career.

Anderson's senior Lyssa Engle finished off the scoring in the 40th minute after battling for a loose ball. Engle gained control and fought off the defender firing a solid shot past the keeper to set the final score at 3-0.

Junior keepers Abby Helm and Bianca Porras combined for a shutout with each recording three saves on the night. Helm has tallied a total of 39 saves on the season which is currently tied for second in the SAC. The native of Dayton, Ohio leads the conference with a .907 save percentage.

The Trojans outshot Coker 21-8 on the evening as Allan led the way with seven, five of those coming on goal. Senior Rachael Whaling and junior Madison Cutts each got off four and three shots, respectively.

The Trojans continue their SAC slate on Saturday when they travel to SAC foe Tusculum. Kickoff from Greeneville, Tenn. is set for 1 p.m.
