
Mars Hill falls in SAC opener versus Wingate
The Mars Hill volleyball team (8-2, 0-1 SAC) was felled by Wingate (6-2, 2-2 SAC) in three sets in their South Atlantic Conference opener inside Chambers Gymnasium Friday night.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (8-2, 0-1 SAC) was felled by Wingate (6-2, 2-2 SAC) in three sets in their South Atlantic Conference opener inside Chambers Gymnasium Friday night.
Wingate hit a game-high .222 in the first set with 14 kills on 45 swings with four errors. The second set saw some free volleyball with Wingate ultimately pulling away 27-25. There were eight times in the frame where the contest was tied and three lead changes. Back-to-back kills from Quin Sutphin put the Bulldogs up two sets. The third set saw Wingate jump out to a 12-4 lead before the Lions attempted their comeback bid. Two Lions' service errors late in the set gave the Bulldogs the straight sets win.
