HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

It was all Limestone over the first 30 minutes of play as an unassisted goal by Foster a few ticks into the contest sparked a 12-0 run for the Blue and Gold in the opening half. Ouimet assisted Denney just 60 seconds later before a score by sophomore Gracie DePaul (Severn, Md.) staked the Saints to a 3-0 lead.

Ouimet and Denney connected again to make it a 4-0 game with 24:04 remaining in the half before Foster picked up a rebounded shot and deposited her second goal of the day. Limestone continued to extend the margin as Ouimet took it herself before Davis planted a free position shot for a man-up goal.

The Blue and Gold turned defense into offense as Ouimet forced a turnover before splitting the frame to give Limestone a commanding 8-0 advantage with 17:34 left. Foster then fired her third goal into the back of the net, taking a feed from Davis, before the Ouimet/Denney duo handed the Saints a 10-0 cushion.

With the clock running under 10 minutes to play in the frame, freshman midfielder Cassandra Peat (North Saanich, British Columbia) logged her fifth career goal and then Denney found Muscella for her 13th score of the 2021 campaign. Limestone posted a 21-3 shot discrepancy in the first half for a 12-0 halftime lead.

Second Half

Catawba broke up the shutout bid early in the second half, cutting the lead to 12-1 with a man-up, free position shot at the 25:58-mark. The momentum was short-lived, however, as Foster tallied her fourth goal of the afternoon, finishing off a pass from Muscella to put the Saints on top, 13-1, a few ticks later.

Following a caused turnover by freshman Bailey Stumpf (Fisherville, Ky.) and a groundball pickup by Peat, Limestone cleared the ball quickly and then made it a 14-1 contest as Ouimet passed off to graduate midfielder Lauren Chong (Toronto, Ontario) for the final score for the visitors with 19:33 left in regulation. The Indians scored three late goals, but it was not enough as the Saints finished the 14-4 win.

TURNING POINT

Limestone controlled things from the opening draw, scoring the go-ahead goals just a few moments into the contest and the Saints would not slow down from there. The Blue and Gold ran off 12 straight goals in the opening half and then added two more midway through the second to take a commanding 14-1 lead.
