NEWBERRY, SC. - Newberry swept Coker over the weekend in a three game series as all three games came down to the wire. The Cobras fell by three runs or less in every game on the weekend.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
Gabriel Santiago led the Cobras at the plate in game one, going 3-4 with 2RBI, but it was Newberry scratching two runs in the 10th to walk off Coker in game one. The Wolves jumped out to an early lead through the first six innings, leading Coker 3-0. In the eighth, Coker got on the board courtesy of a Santiago single up the middle, plating Ick Cirino. In the ninth, Coker fought back to tie the game, tacking on two runs. The first came on Santiago's second RBI of the game, and Hunter Poole added the second with a single through the right side. In the tenth, Newberry roped two singles to walk off the Cobras, taking game one. Casey Cleghorn pitched seven innings on the night, striking out five in his regular Friday night start. Cameron Ferrell and Gavin Edens each added two hits a piece.
Game two saw Coker jump out to the early lead, scoring five runs over the course of the fourth and fifth innings. Four different Cobras registered an RBI in the game, while Ick Cirino and Jaylen Mack each recorded two hits. Newberry stormed back in the sixth inning, adding six runs to take the lead from Coker. Over the course of the next three innings, Newberry pitching kept the Cobras from scoring the remainder of the evening. Britton Adams threw 2.2 innings of relief, allowing just two hits, and no earned runs.
Coker struck first in game three when Cameron Ferrell singled to the shortstop, scoring Rocco Wojcik, but it was Newberry producing another big inning to take the three game sweep. The Wolves added three runs in third inning to ultimately down the Cobras. Coker showed signs of life in the fourth inning courtest of a Kyler Odom single to plate Jaylen Mack, bringing the game within one. Newberry quickly responded, adding a run in the fifth to take Coker down 4-2 in Saturday's series finale. Gabriel Santiago, Rocco Wojcik, Jaylen Mack, Cameron Ferrell, and Kyler Odom recorded the Cobras five hits in game three. Cody Chapman pitched 4.2 innings for Coker with Cooper Thomas throwing the remaining 1.1 to finish the series for Coker.

Coker now turns its attention to Tuesday's midweek game with UNC Pembroke. First pitch has been moved to 2PM, and the game will be played at Carolina Bank Stadium in Florence.
