MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (1-9-1, 1-4 SAC) was defeated by a score of 2-1 versus Anderson (4-5, 3-3 SAC) Saturday afternoon.
In the 32nd minute, Kirsten Armetta put the Trojans up by one, recording her fourth goal of the season. The mark held for the remainder of the half as Anderson carried an 11-2 shot advantage.
Erin Cepeda, who assisted on Armetta's goal in the first half, scored her fourth of the season in the 70th minute to double the Trojans' lead.
Late in the second half, Audrey Scoggins launched a shot from over 20 yards out that went over the head of the Anderson goalkeeper to net her first career goal and break the shutout bid.
Armetta and Fanny Gustavsson led all players with three shots on goal. Madison Paige picked up the win, making five saves in the contest while Clare Witt suffered the loss, despite making six saves on eight shots faced.
Mars Hill wraps up their six-game homestand with a Wednesday night contest versus Carson-Newman. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m.
