Hicks completed her hat trick unassisted with 5:02 left in the period before McHargue converted on a free-position shot to make it 4-3 Wasps. McHargue's hot hand continued as she scored on an assist from sophomore attacker/midfielder Bethany Beecher (Roanoke, Va.) and registered her third goal on an assist from Hicks to run the E&H advantage to 6-3. TMU drew back within one with a pair of goals, but McHargue rounded out her first-half scoring with a goal with just 32 seconds left on the clock on an assist from Hicks to give the visitors from Emory the 7-5 lead at the halftime break.
- Emory & Henry picked up where it left off to begin the second half as freshman midfielder Whitney Holland (Rocky Mount, Va.) beat the keeper on an assist from McHargue to make it 8-5. Hicks scored unassisted and McHargue followed with yet another tally on a helper from Hicks to balloon the Wasps' advantage out to 10-5 with 5:38 left in the third. The Bears got one goal back, but McHargue was not done as she struck once again, assisted by Beecher to push the lead back out to 11-6. Two more TMU goals brought the margin back within three, but McHargue would not be denied on the afternoon as she converted another free-position shot to give E&H the 12-8 lead after three periods. Hicks made it 13-8 with an unassisted score, then sophomore midfielder Natalie Harris (Hillsville, Va.) tallied her first career goal two minutes later to push the lead out to 14-8. After a Bears goal, Holland registered her second of the day to increase the margin to 15-10. TMU threatened to make a comeback with two consecutive scores to draw within three, but Holland completed her hat trick to seal the deal and give Emory & Henry the 16-12 victory.
