Mars Hill defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne
HICKORY, N.C. - The Mars Hill men's basketball team (6-15, 4-15 SAC) was defeated by Lenoir-Rhyne (19-4, 16-3 SAC) by a score of 78-69 Saturday afternoon.
The Bears shot nearly 42 percent from the floor in the first half with Hantz Louis-Jeune leading the team with 10 points. Dinari Boykin led the Lions, scoring eight of their 21 first half points. Kadyn Dawkins added five and led the team with two assists.
Lenoir-Rhyne led by nine at the end of the first half. Both teams netted 48 points apiece, each going 16-of-31, in the second with three Lions scoring in double-figures. Kory Davis led the team with 11 points while Dawkins and Boykin each added 10 apiece. Marvin Hires led the team with four rebounds in the half and added six points. Daniel Mayfield added eight points off the bench along with three rebounds.
Boykin led the Lions with 18 points followed by 15 from Dawkins. Davis added 12 points and led the team with three steals. The trio of Hires, Dawkins, and Boykin each pulled down five rebounds.
Mars Hill returns to action on Wednesday, February 12 when they take on UVA Wise. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
