
Multiple career-highs set in thriller versus Queens

MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (17-8, 6-7 SAC) was defeated by Queens (13-9, 8-5 SAC) in four sets (24-26, 25-20, 22-25, 20-25) Friday night inside Chambers Gymnasium.
The match marked the Lions' return home in 27 days following an eight-game road trip that saw the team go 6-2.
Mars Hill saw three players record new career-highs highlighted by Sarah Goddard's 26 kills. Jordan Schmucker picked up 59 assists, shattering her previous best mark of 43 and Ully Martins collected 50 digs, topping her previous mark of 40.
Queens used late rallies in their set victories to come from behind and down the Lions. In the first, Queens led 24-22 before the Lions tied it up. Shortly after, the Royals returned the 2-0 run and claimed the first set. In the third, Queens reeled off six straight points as they trailed 22-19 to go up 2-1 in the match. Lastly, in the fourth quarter, trailing 18-13, the Royals strung together seven straight points to take the momentum and 20-18 lead.
Queens hit .219 on the night to the Lions' .205 as Lindsay Elmore led the Royals with 18 kills.
