GAFFNEY, S.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (4-6-6, 2-6-3 SAC) was defeated by Limestone (4-9-2, 3-6-2 SAC) by a score of 1-0 on the road in their regular season finale Wednesday night.
With 37 seconds left in the first half, the Saints scored the lone goal of the contest as Emma Dufresne netted her second goal of the season, proving to be the game-winner.
Limestone outshot the Lions 16-4 in the contest with Anae Malbete leading all players with four shots, three on target. Samantha Swinson led the Lions with two shot attempts.
Camryn Miller made seven saves in 72 minutes of play. Kayleigh Palmer made one save in 19 minutes of action.
Despite the defeat, the Lions clinched a spot in the South Atlantic Conference postseason tournament, securing the No. 8 seed. This marks the first time the Lions have made the tournament since 2012.
Mars Hill will face No. 1 Lenoir-Rhyne on the road at 3 p.m. on Sunday, November 5.
