GREENEVILLE, Tenn. – The Mars Hill softball team (5-15, 2-6 SAC) dropped both parts of a double header on Saturday afternoon against the Pioneers of Tusculum (16-13, 2-5 SAC).
GAME ONE: TU 2, MHU 0
The Lions were shut out in the first game of the day due to a complete game from Pioneers' pitcher Emily Sappington, who struck out 14 batters and allowed three hits. Marissa Adame started the game for the Lions, throwing six innings and striking out six.
Shortstop Farley Park had two of the Lions' three hits on the game.
GAME TWO: TU 2, MHU 0
The Lions were held scoreless in the second game as Ireland Cavanaugh threw six complete innings for the Pioneers. Sappington entered the game in relief to earn the save.
Kallyn Newport supplied both of the Pioneers' runs with a pair of singles, while the Lions recorded four hits on the game coming from Maggie Langheim, Farley Park, Maegan Blair, and Deja Smith.
Kayla Gallagher started the game for the Lions, striking out five batters through six complete innings.
The Lions are back in action on Tuesday, March 22 when they host a doubleheader against Lincoln Memorial with first pitch set for 1 p.m.
