Coker Takes a Trip to Tusculum

Greeneville, TN - The Coker University Softball Team dropped both games to Tusculum on Staurday (March 18th).

Game One:

Tusculum went up early, with two runs scored in the bottom of the second inning. Coker was unable to answer as Tusculum added another three runs throughout the rest of the game. Coker had 27 at bats and was able to collect seven hits and four walks. Cameron Jackson registerd a double for the Cobras while Ariana Fair put up a SAC bunt to move runners on base. Despite strong attempts by Coker, they were unable to bring any runners home. 

Jenae Fedewa pitched the entire seven inning, her pitch count sitting at 103 pitches and 67 strikes. Fedewa faced 30 batters during the game. 

Game Two:

Despite the unwanted outcome of the first game, Coker did not let it deter them. With Tusculum up by two, the Cobras answered back with a run of their own in the top of the second inning. Carter Freeman making it home on a muffed throw and Brooklynn Stueness advanced to second. The Pioneers were able to bring in one more run in the bottom of the fourth inning, the score sitting at 3-1. Even with a deficit, Kayla Oswell continued on and smacked a double into center field bringing Ari Fair home. Although the late push by the Cobras, they were unable to overcome the Pioneers and the game finished at 3-2.

Coker had 27 at bats and registered five hits and one RBI. Five Cobras were also walked. Kayla Oswell and Cameron Jackson both collected doubles while Ari Fair claimed the only stolen base for the Cobras. 

Tibby Hessian and Cecilia pitched throughout the game. Tibby Hessian faced 22 batters while Cecilia Hogel faced seven.

The Cobras will be returning to the mound on Wednesday (March 22nd) against Winston-Salem. The first pitch will be thrown at 1:00 PM. Live streaming and stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com
