Men's Tennis Edged out by Lincoln Memorial; 5-4

ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team was edged out in its final regular season South Atlantic Conference match against opponent Lincoln Memorial; 5-4 on Tuesday afternoon at the LMU Tennis Complex.

With the loss, the Trojans fall to 17-5 overall and 7-4 in conference play while Lincoln Memorial moves to 15-3 overall and 8-2 in SAC action.

The Trojans battled for a 2-1 advantage during the doubles portion with No. 1 slotted Nicolas Ascarrunz and Jeffrey Dayton (AU) defeating Joshua Coulthard and Jake Tuchmann (LMU), 8-5 while LMU's No. 2 flight Joshua Peress and David Segarra (LMU) won over Ignacio Bidegain and Hank Sartain (AU), 8-6. The Trojans were able to claim the advantage after the No. 3 positioned pair Juan Carracedo and Preston Morpeth (AU) defeated Pepe Batalla and Xavier Marti (LMU), 9-7.

In singles action, the Black and Gold could only pull out two more wins to set the final score at 5-4. At the No. 1 slot, AU's Ignacio Bidegain and at the No. 6 spot Preston Morpeth were responsible for Anderson's two points during the singles portion.

The Trojans finish regular season play when they host nonconference rival Erskine on Friday. First serve is slated for 3:30 p.m.
