MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (7-8, 3-7 SAC) fell to Lenoir-Rhyne (8-9, 6-4 SAC) by a score of 19-6 Saturday afternoon inside Meares Stadium.
The Bears held Mars Hill scoreless in the first quarter, scoring five goals in the opening 15 minutes. The Lions netted four in the second, including a 3-0 run within 1:23 late in the stanza with goals from Kiersten Foust, Maria Fabrizio, and Alexa Tazzetta. Fabrizio struck twice in the second quarter.
Lenoir-Rhyne scored six and entered the half up with an 11-4 lead. They went on to outscore the Lions 8-2 in the second half. Tazzetta and Sydney Joyce scored the Lions' second half markers.
Both Suzy Smith (6g, 2a) and Jolan Morey (2g, 6a) recorded a game-high eight points. Ellie Campbell also netted six goals for the Bears.
Tazzetta led the Lions with three points (2g, 1a) followed by two points apiece from Fabrizio (2g), Foust (1g, 1a), and Joyce (1g, 1a).
