Spartanburg, SC- The Lady Railsplitters took on the Converse Valkyries this evening in their season opener. Lincoln Memorial came back from being down by 7 points at the half and from a 18 point deficit with 6 minutes remaining, to tying it up 63-63. LMU went into overtime and came out on top, winning 77-71 over the Converse Valkyries.

The Lady Railsplitters led the first quarter 12-10 over Converse. Right from the start
Lauren Flowers, Saquita Joyner,
Jordan Maney, Alexis Schulz, and Kassidy Kenny were eager to shoot, contributing to the lead. In the second quarter Alexa Smiddy,
Lauren Flowers, and Alexis Schulz brought their team up to 20 points going into halftime. At the half, the Railsplitters trailed by 7 points.

The third quarter was underway, with the score being 20-27, Converse. Saquita Joyner put up 4 points, Chloe Savage had a 3-pointer, Alexa Smiddy put up 7 points, and
Jordan Maney put up 2. Going into the fourth quarter, the Valkyries were up 37-45. LMU fell into a 18 point deficit around the 6 minute mark.
Jordan Maney, Saquita Joyner, Geovana Rios, Alexa Smiddy, and
Lauren Flowers all put in the work to get their team tied up at 63-63 and headed into overtime. In overtime it was back and forth scoring until
Lauren Flowers tied it up 69-69, followed by a 3-pointer shortly after, bringing the score to 72-71. LMU's Saquita Joyner had a 3-pointer followed by Alexa Smiddy's 2 free throws to lock in the win.
