
GREENEVILLE, Tenn. --- The University of North Georgia defeated Tusculum University 5-0 in non-conference women's tennis Monday afternoon at the Nichols Tennis Complex.
The seventh-ranked Nighthawks (10-5) swept all three doubles matches and took the four completed singles matches in straight sets from the Pioneers (1-11).
In doubles, Linn Goerdes and Emily Bush beat Valeria Diaz and Katie Bradley 6-0 at flight two, Angelina Linnikova and Carolina Reis downed Elodie Baechler and Ylva Frafjord Landa 6-2 at flight one, and Vasilissa Kupriyanova teamed with Ashley Moinard for a 6-4 win over Thilda Danielsson and Samira Butt at flight three.
The Nighthawks went up 2-0 in the match as Moinard beat Jimena Rivera 6-0, 6-0 at flight two, and Linnikova, ranked third in Division II, beat Landa 6-2, 6-1 at flight one. Reis downed Bradley 6-1, 6-1 at flight six and Goerdes defeated Diaz 6-2, 6-2 in the last completed matches of the day.
The Pioneers will be back home on Tuesday, March 25 to host UVA Wise in a South Atlantic Conference match beginning at 11 a.m. The Cavaliers (6-9, 1-4 SAC) beat Mars Hill 6-0 in their most-recent match on Wednesday.
