Top Performers
Brooklyn Lovin: 2 innings pitched, no earned runs allowed (Game 1)
Ari Fair: Home Run, RBI (Game 1), 2 hits in 4 at-bats (Game 2)
How It Happened:
Game 1: It was a quick 2-0 lead for the Railsplitters in the top of the first, but the Cobras were able to hold them for the next couple of innings with stout defense. They scored another run in the top of the fourth and two more in the top of the fifth to give them a 5-0 lead. In the bottom of the sixth, the Cobras got on the board with a solo shot from Ari Fair to make it 5-1. Unfortunately, the Cobras did not score more to get back in this and fell in Game 1.
Game 2: It was a very defensive game, with no runs scored in the first two innings of play by either team. The top of the third proved to be the downfall for the Cobras, allowing two LMU runs in that frame to go down 2-0. Another run in the fifth was added by LMU to make this a 3-0 game. The Cobras tried to make a late push with some clutch offense and had the tying run up to bat in the bottom of the seventh, but couldn't quite bring them across as they fell 3-0 in Game 2.
Notables
- Ally Moore leads the team in batting average as a freshman, hitting a very solid .407 mark
- Four of the six Cobras batting over .300 are underclassmen (freshmen and sophomores), so the Cobras are in a great spot moving forward!
