MARS HILL, N.C. – The trip to North Carolina ended in a scoreless draw for the University of Tampa Spartans against the Mars Hill University Lions.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF: While there was no scoring in the first half, the Spartans would put pressure on the Lions as they took control of possession and moved the ball quickly. Tampa had a chance to get the go-ahead goal in the 35th minute off of a penalty kick taken by Sofia Karlholm, but was saved by Lion's goalkeeper, Camryn Miller. The Spartans would maintain offensive pressure for the rest of the half as they outshot the Lions by five shots.
SECOND HALF: Tampa would go into the second half looking to make an instant impact in the game but could not convert. The Spartans would outshoot the Lions 19-7 with several shots taken from Mimi Cronquist, Brooke Steigerwalt, Tali O'Leary, and Hannah Kirkpatrick. Aidan Smith tallied five saves in the half and would earn her eighth shutout of the season.
