
CLEVELAND, Tenn. --- Lee University received goals from 10 different players in a 16-4 victory over Tusculum University in non-conference women's lacrosse Sunday afternoon.
Callie Curtis and Lily Tomczik each scored three goals for the Flames (1-2), who also received two goals from Hannah Vecsey and Noelle Harrington along with a goal and three assists from Makenna Luzier. Lee outshot Tusculum 36-20 and had a 20-10 advantage in ground balls in the match.
Kayla Nuccio scored two goals for the Pioneers (2-2), with a goal and an assist from Sophia Derrick and a goal from Elisha Stack. Tusculum was 12-for-16 on clear attempts and had 17 turnovers to just nine for Lee.
The Flames went up 5-0 after 10 minutes before Stack got the Pioneers on the board with 4:16 left in the first quarter. Six more goals from the Flames pushed their lead to 11-1 with 2:54 remaining in the opening half, with Derrick scoring with 1:30 remaining to set the halftime lead for Lee at 11-2.
Harrington scored the only goal of the third quarter for the Flames, and Lee would tack on two more goals at the start of the fourth quarter to build a 14-2 lead. Nuccio scored both of her goals in the final nine minutes, including the final one of the match with 1:24 to play.
Liberty Jones led the Pioneers with five draw controls, with three draw controls for Mya Halladay. Curtis paced the Flames with five draw controls to go along with three ground balls and two caused turnovers.
Emily White finished with 13 saves in goal for the Pioneers, while Savannah Weisman had five saves in the first half and Haley Lambeth added two saves in the second half for the Flames.
Tusculum welcomes North Greenville to Pioneer Field on Wednesday, Feb. 26 beginning at 2:30 p.m. The Trailblazers (1-4) have dropped four in a row including a 17-11 loss to Emmanuel in their Conference Carolinas opener on Feb. 19.
