HOW IT HAPPENED

First Half

Wingate got a long look at the frame a few ticks into the contest while Limestone tallied a trio of shots in the early going, but neither defense was willing to give up much else over the remainder of the opening half. The Saints finished with a 6-5 edge in shots attempted while both teams posted a corner kick.

Second Half

The Bulldogs controlled the tempo early in the second half, recording three straight shots to start the frame, but Limestone had the best look following a long cross by junior Dominic Boland (Glasgow, Scotland). However, the resulting header by Ney just missed right as things remained scoreless.

Wingate kept up the pressure on the offensive end late, but Osborne came up with some huge saves down the stretch, including a tremendous punch in the 85th minute to keep the home team in the match.

With timing winding down in regulation, the Saints would capitalize as Smith served a long pass over the Wingate back line. After a defender missed on the clear, Ney collected the ball and then beat the keeper one-on-one with the game winner right down the middle of the pipes at the 86:11-mark.

The Bulldogs made things interesting over the closing minutes with a couple of chances at the equalizer, but Osborne made another key stop as Limestone held on to record its fifth straight shutout win.

TURNING POINT

Osborne made some crucial saves over the last 25 minutes of regulation, including a punch over the bar in the 85th minute. Limestone's offense would break through with the game-winner a few ticks later.
