Box Score Kirchman Pours in 26 in Win Over Carson-Newman

Jefferson City, Tenn. (Nov. 30, 2016) –
Junior Christian Kirchman scored a career-high 26 points to lift the Johnson C. Smith men's basketball team to an 88-75 win over Carson-Newman at Holt Fieldhouse in Jefferson City, Tenn. on Wednesday night.

Kirchman, a Roanoke, Va. product, knocked went 10-of-19 from the field while hitting three from long range to help the Golden Bulls snap a three-game losing skid.  Kirchman also dished out 11 assists to post his first double-double of the season.

Teammate Malik Ford (Salisbury, N.C.) also had a stellar night by posting 21 points on an 8-of-11 night from the field.  Gabon Williams (Charlotte, N.C.) had 15 points and knocked down a trio of three pointers for the Golden Bulls.  Robert Davis (West Friendship, Md.) went a perfect 6-of-6 from the free throw line and finished with 12 points to round out the double-figure scorers for the Gold and Blue.

JCSU shot 44.9% (31-of-69 ) from the field and capitalized on their trips to the free throw line, shooting 69% (20-of-29) on the night.  JCSU was also able to force 17 Eagle turnovers, converting those into 25 points.

The win, JCSU's sixth straight over Carson-Newman, improves the Golden Bulls to 3-4 on the season while Carson-Newman falls to 4-3.

JCSU will continue nonconference play this upcoming Sunday, traveling to SIAC foe Tuskegee for a 3:30 p.m. (CT) matchup with the Tigers.
