Women's Lacrosse Comes Out On Top Against Young Harris At Home

Harrogate, TN – The Lincoln Memorial women's lacrosse team extends their home record to 2-0 as they defeat the Young Harris Mountain Lions Saturday evening 12-10.

LMU was the first to score as Josie Tinnerello scores not even two minutes into the match, with Amber Kirkpatrick tallying the assist. With 12:40 remaining, the Tinnerello/Kirkpatrick duo connect once again with Tinnerello getting her second goal of the match and Kirkpatrick recording her second assist. Jaedyn Ryba adds a goal for Lincoln Memorial with 9:23 left in the first quarter, with Tinnerello earning the assist. The Mountain Lions would  score their first goal of the match with 6:49 remaining with Craig (Troyer) scoring. The lone man-down goal of the game would come from the hat trick of Tinnerello, with once again Kirkpatrick registering the assist with 5:22 remaining in the first. Young Harris would get the last say in the first as Fraley scored a man-up goal, unassisted, with 4:46 remaining. The score going into the second quarter would be 4-2 with the Railsplitters in the lead.

The second quarter would be the highest scoring quarter for Lincoln Memorial with 5 goals. First up is Breanna Booth recording her first goal of the match with 11:19 remaining, unassisted. Next up is McKenzie Cates adding a goal for Lincoln Memorial, which is her first of the match, with 9:29 remaining in the second, unassisted. Jalee Davis would also get her first goal of the match with 7:36 left in the second quarter, also unassisted. Young Harris would finally respond with a goal with 5:39 remaining, with the man-up goal coming from Parker. With 3:00 left in the second, Kirkpatrick would earn her first goal of the match, unassisted. Jaiden Jaynes would tally her first goal with 1:33 left in the second, with Kirkpatrick earning her fourth assist. The Mountain Lions would score the last goal of the quarter, with the goal coming from Fraley (Parker) with 0:09 remaining. The score going into halftime would be 4-9 with the Railsplitters having the 5-point lead.

Only two goals would come out of the third quarter, both coming from Young Harris. Parker would score with 9:32 left in the third and Sujishi would score a man-up goal with 5:14 remaining with Troyer getting the assist. The score going into the final quarter of the match would be 6-9 with LMU in the lead.

Lincoln Memorial would score quickly into the fourth, as Ryba gets the brace as she scores her second goal of the match with 14:08 remaining, unassisted. Young Harris would respond with a goal almost a minute and a half later with the goal coming from Kiest with 13:12 remaining. Not even a minute later, Tinnerello would earn her fourth goal of the match with the man-up goal with 12:47 left in the fourth, unassisted. The Mountain Lions would respond with two more goals: Parker with 9:42 remaining and Sijishi with 2:59 remaining, both unassisted. Lincoln Memorial's last goal would come from Jaynes, with Kirkpatrick tallying her fifth assist of the night, with 1:59 remaining. Young Harris would get the last goal of the match with 1:16 remaining, with Craig adding the goal. The final score would be 12-10 with Lincoln Memorial earning the win.

Kirkpatrick would lead in points on the night with 1 goal and game-high 5 assists and Tinnerello would earn 5 points off of game-high 4 goals and 1 assist. Jaynes and Ryba would both add 2 goals each for the Railsplitters. Davis, Booth, and Cates would each add 1 goal.

Keegan Gillman would lead in ground balls on the night with 6, while also tallying 2 saves in goal. Samantha Billingsley would be the game-leader in caused turnovers with 2. Billingsley and Ruba would both lead in draw controls with 4 each.

As a team, Lincoln Memorial tallied 27 goals, with 15 being on goal, 14/18 successful clears, 19 ground balls, 15 draw controls, and 2/4 free-position shots.

With the win, the Railsplitters improve to 2-1 on the season.

Also with tonight's win, head coach Alyssa Shaver is tied for first in program history for most games won as a head coach with 32. 

For their next match, they will travel to Tigersville, SC to face North Greenville on Saturday, February 15th at 2 pm.
