The Mars Hill softball team (4-8) was swept by North Greenville (8-6) Tuesday afternoon by scores of 2-0 and 8-0, respectively.
TIGERVILLE, S.C. - The Mars Hill softball team (4-8) was swept by North Greenville (8-6) Tuesday afternoon by scores of 2-0 and 8-0, respectively.
GAME ONE: NGU 2, MHU 0
North Greenville opened the day with 2-0 win, allowing just three hits in the contest.
After taking a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the third off of a Lions' error, a RBI single off the bat of Karley Green in the bottom fifth provided the insurance run needed to secure the win.
Green struck out nine in the complete game victory. Miranda Marks, Leah Grimes, and Zoie Pistel recorded the Mars Hill hits.
GAME TWO: NGU 8, MHU 0
The Crusaders capped off the sweep shutting the Lions out in game two, scoring at least one run in each of the six innings played.
NGU plated two apiece in the second and third, highlighted by a two-run triple off the bat of Emily Blackwell.
Maddie Gore was credited with the win, allowing two hits in four innings.
The Lions open up their home slate of games on Tuesday, February 27 when they host Lincoln. First pitch at Ponder Field is set for 1 p.m.
