ASHEVILLE, N.C. - The Mars Hill women's soccer team (0-2-1) was felled by a score of 2-0 to Division I foe UNC Asheville (2-4-0) on the road Wednesday night.
The Lions kept UNCA off of the scoresheet in the first half, holding the Bulldogs to six shots. The Lion defense hung tough until the 72nd minute when Isabella Piso broke the scoreless tie with her first goal of the season.
Three minutes later, the Bulldogs' Chloe Lamenzo extended the lead to two with her first marker of the season. Skyler Chillson was credited with the assist.
The Bulldogs outshot Mars Hill 20-0 in the final 45 minutes of play, scoring twice to come away with their second victory of the season.
Sanne Martinsen led Mars Hill with two shots on the evening. Clare Witt made four saves in the opening stanza while Victoria Forren stopped three.
The Lions return home to square off against Palm Beach Atlantic on Sunday, September 15th. Action inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium is slated for a 1 p.m. start.
