Trojans Cruise to Victory over Coker; 66-49

Hartsville, S.C. –The Anderson University women's basketball cruised to a 17 point victory, 66-49 over South Atlantic Conference foe Coker on Wednesday evening at the DeLoach Center.

With the victory, Anderson moves to 7-1 overall and 4-0 in the conference while the loss drops Coker to 1-8 on the year and 1-4 in the SAC.

The Trojans were led by sophomore Erika Martin's near double-double. Martin tied her career high with 12 points and eclipsed her career high in rebounds with nine, in just 13 minutes of action. Senior Heather Jankowy netted 10 points on 3-of-5 shooting from the floor and 2-of-4 from behind the arc. Jankowy added four rebounds, one assist and one steal. Seniors Nakia Young and Jasmine Franklin chipped in 10 and 9 points, respectively for the Black and Gold.

The Cobras only had one player reach double-digit scoring with reserve Kaleah Hires scoring 10 points on 3-of-9 from the floor and 4-of-5 from the charity stripe.

The Black and Gold enjoyed contributions from the entire team as 11-of-13 players that logged minutes scored at least one point. Senior Bailey Sims and junior Kaylee Koerperich each scored six points for the Trojans while freshman Maddison Baggett scored four. Freshmen Alexy Mollenhauer and Hannah Hodges chipped in three points while sophomores Sara Goble and Tamia Eatmon scored a bucket and foul shot, respectively.

Coker enjoyed its only lead of the game at the 7:55 mark in the first period with the two-point advantage lasting less than 15 seconds. The Trojans tied the game 4-4 on a layup by Franklin and never looked back, pushing the lead to as many as 31 points early in the fourth period.

Head Coach Jonathon Barbaree's Thoughts: "Really happy to get the win. Practicing during finals is always tough on a team. They did a great job sticking to the game plan and played well. We are looking forward to playing at home for the next two games. We would love to see everyone join us and bring a toy!"

-The Black and Gold outrebounded the Cobras 39-37 marking the seventh straight game having the advantage in the rebound category.
-Since Coker joined the SAC in 2013, the Trojans hold a 6-1 all-time advantage.
- Anderson had no player play more than 22 minutes for the game, with eleven different players logging 13 minutes or more.
- Since joining the SAC in 2010, the Trojans have started 4-0 in conference action the past three years.
-Anderson made more free throws (17) than Coker attempted (14).
