ANDERSON, S.C. – The Anderson University men's tennis team was back in top form after a two-week layoff winning, 8-1 over South Atlantic Conference Coker on Tuesday afternoon at the AU Tennis Complex.
With the win, the Trojans move to 12-3 overall and 2-2 in conference play while Coker falls to 3-6 overall and 1-3 in SAC action.
The Trojans took a 3-0 advantage heading into the singles round by their solid play in the doubles portion. At the No. 1 slot, Nicolas Ascarrunz and Jeffrey Dayton (AU) defeated Simon Bergbom and Felix Schweyer (COKER), 8-1 while the No. 2 pairing Ignacio Bidegain and Fabricio Lanza (AU) won over Hunter Horton and Henrik Hellbe (COKER), 8-4. At the No. 3 position, Juan Carracedo and Preston Morpeth (AU) were victorious over Dominic Allan and Walker Long (COKER), 8-4.
The Black and Gold ran through the singles portion only faltering once to claim the 8-1 victory.
The Trojans continue conference play when they hit the road on Wednesday to face SAC opponent Mars Hill. First serve is slated for 1 p.m.
