HOW IT HAPPENED:
Coker jumped out to an early 12-9 lead at the first media timeout, before Emory and Henry ramped up their defense to create points. The Wasps quicly erased the deficit, using a multitude of fastbreak layups to take a 24-21 lead into the last 10 minutes of the first frame. Max Hurray was a brightspot for the Cobras in the first half draining three three pointers to help Coker keep the game within reach. Emory and Henry seemingly handled the Coker pressure late in the first half and extend their lead into the break to 14 at 69-55. This was the largest deficit Coker has faced at the break all year.
The Wasps continued to shoot the ball well to start the second half, holding onto a 15 point lead at the under 16 media timeout, but from there Coker started to chip away. The Cobras who haven't been in this postion all season, did not show signs of panic. They continued to chip away at the lead the rest of the half. With 10 minutes remaining, the Cobras had cut the lead to 7. After an Ian Blue layup with a little over four mintues remaining, Coker brought the game within one at 98-97. A few mintues later, Blue drained a three pointer with a minute left to even the game.
From there the fun began. With 36 seconds remaining, The wasps drained two free throws to take a two point lead. After a missed layup attempt, Blue stole the ball back for the Cobras before kicking it out to Cole with 10 seconds reamining on the clock. Cole's three connected with the bottom of the net to give Coker a one point lead. A missed three pointer by Emory and Henry in the waning moments sealed the deal for Coker.
Cole's three pointer moved Coker to 6-0 on the season, and 4-0 in SAC play. Both of these are a school best in the Division II era. Coker continued to have great success off the bench tonight with 43 of its 112 points coming from it. All 10 Cobra's scored five points or more on the night, while Coker added 18 assists on the night.
