
Lions take three straight, down Coker in four
The Mars Hill volleyball team (11-8, 5-7 SAC) defeated Coker (2-20, 0-15 SAC) in four sets (16-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18) Friday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (11-8, 5-7 SAC) defeated Coker (2-20, 0-15 SAC) in four sets (16-25, 25-15, 25-19, 25-18) Friday evening inside Chambers Gymnasium.
After dropping the first set, hitting .000 with nine kills and nine errors, the Lions roared back to tie the match at one set apiece, taking the second, 25-15. Mars Hill dropped a match-high 17 kills and hit a match-high .325 in the set.
The momentum rolled on as they hit .229 in the third with 14 kills. To close out the match, Mars Hill hit .170 with 15 kills in the fourth, holding Coker to a .068 hitting percentage for the second time on the night.
Brooke Hoffman led the Lions with 14 kills and four blocks. Skylar Ogden added 11 kills, hitting a match-high .364. Katilyn Grant and Jada Cannon each added nine kills. Laela Jimenez led the Lions with 20 digs and added six assists. Jordan Schmucker collected 43 assists and 17 digs for the double-double.
Mars Hill faces UVA Wise on Saturday, October 28. First serve is set for 5 p.m. inside Chambers Gymnasium.
