Fabrizio records seven points versus Indians

MARS HILL, N.C. – The Mars Hill women's lacrosse team (4-7, 1-3 SAC) was downed by a score of 18-16 at the hands of Catawba (5-6, 4-1 SAC) Saturday afternoon inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium.
Tied at two after the first 8:04 of play, Catawba reeled off four straight goals to take a 6-2 lead. Erin Gray recorded two of the goals. The Lions began to claw back, scoring three of the next four with Maria Fabrizio (1g, 1a) picking up two points in the run.
The Indians scored three straight goals following Fabrizio's tally to regain the five goal advantage with 2:47 left in the half. Goals from Scout Black and Fabrizio in the final 1:42 of the first closed the deficit to three.
The Lions closed the gap to one run 2:12 into the second half with goals from Tobias and Kiersten Foust. The teams traded the next four goals with Catawba maintaining the one goal lead before goals from Brooklyn Tilley and Erin Green extended the Indians' lead to three.
Mars Hill, scoring three of the next four goals with less than 12 minutes remaining, pulled the Lions once again within one as Foust netted her 30th and 31st goals of the season. Three straight goals from Catawba with 5:34 left boosted the lead to four. Tobias and Fabrizio scored in the final two minutes of the game, but the push was too late for Mars Hill.
Green led all players with eight points (5g, 3a) followed by Tilley's seven goals. Fabrizio recorded a team-high seven points (3g, 4a) followed by Tobias' six (4g, 2a).
Gini Joy was credited with the loss, allowing 10 goals in the contest. Aryn Dorr earned the win, making 13 saves.
Mars Hill returns to action on Tuesday, April 2nd when they host the Pioneers of Tusculum inside the Ammons Family Athletic Center and Meares Stadium. First draw is scheduled for 6 p.m.
