Baseball Battles at Home Against the Trojans

Hartsville, SC- Coker looked to grab a win at home against Mount Olive. The Cobras jumped to an early lead going up (0-3) in the first two innings. Led by Jackson Williams who cracked one down the third base line causing an error and scoring Cameron Ferrell putting Coker up (0-1). Kody Hanna in the second inning doubled to the right field scoring Jacob Yarberry. Jaylen Mack waited for his opportunity to strike as he watches a passed ball fly by the catcher and he stole home with ease. Ashby Vining joined on the action hitting a single and collecting an RBI by Hanna scoring putting the team up (0-4).

The Trojans did not stay quiet for too long as they put some runs together of their own cutting the lead (2-4). The Cobras added some more runs in the 3rd inning. Yarberry came up to the plate and looked to put the ball in play. With a deep fly ball to right field, Keaton Anderson found home plate adding another run to the score (2-5). Donavan Frayer came up to the plate looking to unload some power. With the count in his favor, he got a pitch that he liked and put it just a foot off the top of the fence. Ferrell came up after him and found an opening on the right side putting Coker up (2-7). 

Mount Olive did not go away. The Trojans fought back to gain the lead (11-7). The Cobras went on to score again at the top of the 7th cutting into the lead by a single from Ferrell scoring Yarberry and a sacrifice fly by Hanna scoring Frayer. The team went on to lose a close one (15-9).
