
Lions rally past Bears in pivotal SAC match
The Mars Hill volleyball team (21-10, 9-8 SAC) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (18-7, 13-4 SAC) in four sets (12-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22) Tuesday night.
MARS HILL, N.C. - The Mars Hill volleyball team (21-10, 9-8 SAC) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (18-7, 13-4 SAC) in four sets (12-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-22) Tuesday night.
The Bears dominated the first set, hitting .342 with 15 kills in the first frame. Taylor Prall had nine kills in the opening set.
Mars Hill responded in the second set, hitting a team-high .302. Grace Lilly had five kills and five digs while Sarah Goddard added four kills. In the third, the Lions continued to ride the wave of momentum, going up 2-1 entering the fourth. Lilly knocked down six kills.
In the fourth, a balanced attack by the Lions and late rally secured the four-set win. Jana Cuk led the Lions with four kills while Goddard, Lilly, and Kelly Jakaitis each added three kills.
