Cobras Drops Weekend Series to Catawba

Salisbury, NC - The Coker University Baseball Team fell short to Catawba in their third game on Sunday (March 19th).

Taking the lead early on, Nick Leonard smashed a single into left field and scored Donavan Frayer to put the Cobras up by one. It wasn't until the bottom of the fourth innning that Catawba was able to tie the game up, Logan Rogers scoring on an error. The Cobras continued to fight and scored their second run of the game, Cameron Ferrell being walked home. Although a strong push for the Cobras, they were unable to bring the win home as Dylan Driver and Carson Yates both scored in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Of the 33 at bats, Coker collected six hits and two RBI. The Cobras also had five batters walked to get on base. Nick Leonard led the Cobras with two stolen bases and was followed up by Adam Wilkerson with one stolen base. 

Garrett Dunn and Zach Hinson both pitched throughout the game. Dunn faced 24 batters and threw 53 strikes out of 78 pitches. Zach Hinson faced seven batters and threw 17 strikes out of 30 pitches.

The Cobras will be returning to the field on Tuesday (March 21st) against Newberry. The first pitch will be thrown at 6:00 PM in Hartsville, SC. Live stats and streaming will be available at www.cokercobras.com
