Coker Splits Double Header with West Liberty on Saturday (Feb 4th)

Hartsville, SC - The Coker University played closely with West Liberty only to drop the first game and come back with a vengeance in the second.

Game One:

Coker jumped on top of West Liberty, quickly scoring two runs in the first inning. These runs were broughtin by a single to right field by Delaney Eaves. Kayla Oswell also batted in Brooklynn Stueness with a single up the middle.

Although the happy start from the Cobras, they were not able to hold the lead as West Liberty came back in the fifth inning to take the lead.

Jenae Fedewa pitched all seven innings of the game with a 62-39 count.

Game Two:

Fueled by their first win in the day, West Liberty seized their opportunity to score as many runs as possible in the first inning. The hilltoppers collected a total of six runs in the first inning, four of which were unearned. Although the Hilltoppers came out fiery, Coker returned the energy by scoring 11 runs between the second and third inning. This gave the Cobras a 11-6 lead. The game continued to be run for run, both teams finding themselves at a standstill at 17-17. In the following innings, Coker was able to overtake West Liberty in the final play of the game, finishing at 18-19.

Cecilia Hogel (11), Tibby Hessian (25), and Hannah Fisher (13) all pitched during the second game.

The Cobras will be returning to the mound on Tuesday, February 4th against Mount Olive. Game time is set for 2 & 4 PM. Live streaming and stats will be available at www.cokercobras.com
