Tucker Earns 250th Win as No. 6 Limestone Defeats No. 15 Queens (N.C.)

CHARLOTTE, N.C.  – Limestone College Women's Lacrosse Head Coach Scott Tucker earned his 250th win at Limestone as the nationally sixth-ranked Saints defeated non-conference opponent No. 15 Queens University of Charlotte, 12-8, on Thursday evening at the Queens Sports Complex.

  • Junior attack Caitlyn Nemeth (Old Bridge, N.J.) and junior midfielder Courtney Lafler (Penn Yan, N.Y.) led the Saints with three goals each.
  • Senior attacks Shannon Sisk (Brooklin, Ontario) and Kendra Sheppard (Toronto, Ontario) added two goals each.
  • Senior midfielder Anna O'Donnell (Easton, Md.) and freshman attack Britannie Ouimet (Westlock, Alberta) tallied one goal each.
  • Ouimet recorded a team-high four assists.
  • Sophomore goalkeeper Jenna Haring (Irving, N.Y.) notched seven saves.  
 
HOW IT HAPPENED
 
First Half
Limestone put the first tally on the scoreboard as the Saints went out ahead 1-0 at the 27:13 minute mark. The Royals answered with a goal of their own a few minutes later to bring the score to 1-1. Queens took a quick lead at 2-1 before the Saints retaliated with four consecutive goals to build a 5-2 lead with 15:30 left in the half.
 
Queens began to gain momentum and used the next several minutes to get to within one point, 5-4. In the final minutes, Limestone held to Royals from scoring as the Saints added two more goals to take a 7-4 lead into the break.
 
Second Half
After intermission, the Royals put the first point on the scoreboard but the Saints answered with three consecutive goals to double-up Queens, 10-5, with 15:10 left in regulation. The Royals kept chipping away at the deficit and got to within three points on one occasion before the Saints extended their lead once again, this time at 12-7.
 
Down the stretch, the Blue and Gold held the Royals to only one more goal as Limestone finalized the 12-8 road victory.

  • Limestone outshot the Royals 26-19.
  • Limestone holds a 19-3 all-time advantage over the Royals.
  • Sisk has now surpassed 200 assists for her career and is 17 short of tying the all-time career record of 221.

The Saints return to action on Sunday, Mar. 18 against Conference Carolinas opponent Barton College. The game is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. at Saints Field.
