Cobras Complete Season Sweep over Mount Olive on Tuesday

MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. - The Coker University field hockey team completed the season sweep over the University of Mount Olive by a score of 7-1 on Tuesday (Oct. 15) in South Atlantic Conference Carolinas action. 

Coker started off the game in a big way, scoring four goals in the first quarter. It was Amelia Gajewski getting things started just past the five-minute mark of the quarter, before Gajewski scored her second of the game with 4:10 to play in the first quarter off an assist from Ellie Mead. Kelly Mason would score unassisted with 2:50 to play in the first, before Britt Kabo would score from Alyssa Baronella-O'Toole with 46 seconds remaining in the quarter. 

Baronella-O'Toole would score twice in the second quarter, to give the Cobras a 6-0 lead at the half. Her first goal came with 9:58 to play in the quarter assisted by Kabo, while her second goal of the frame came with 5:20 left in the frame unassisted. 

Kaleigh Cordrey would score the seventh goal of the afternoon for the Cobras on a penalty stroke less than three minutes into the third quarter. Coker would take its 7-0 lead to the fourth. 

Mount Olive would break through in the fourth for one goal, as Kaylin Holdeman scored from Delaney Norr with 11:23 to play in the contest. That would be the final goal in the contest, as Coker would seal the victory from there. 

Coker out-shot Mount Olive 27-5 in the contest, including 16-5 in shots on goal. Lisa Rempt led the Cobras with six shots putting two on goal, while Gajewski totaled five shots with four of them on target. Victoria Humphreys registered four shots in the contest, while Mason and Kabo each posted three. All three of Mason's shots were on frame, while two of Kabo's also were on target. Mead and Baronella-O'Toole each recorded two shots, while both of Baronella-O'Toole's shots were on target and one of Mead's was as well. Baronella-O'Toole and Gajewski each scored twice in the game, while Mason, Kabo and Cordrey each added one goal. Mead, Baronella-O'Toole and Kabo each registered one assist in the game. Kelsey Gibbons (4-2) stopped four shots in the victory. 

Coker (7-5, 4-4 South Atlantic Conference Carolinas) is back in action on Sunday (Oct. 20) to face Converse on the road. The contest is set for a 1:00 p.m. start from Spartanburg, S.C.
