BRISTOL, Tenn. - The Mars Hill baseball team (11-29) was defeated by King (10-28) by a score of 22-17 Wednesday afternoon.
Despite a seven-run ninth inning, the Lions fell short of their comeback bid versus the Tornado.
Both teams' respective offenses put up a combined 23 runs in just four innings with King leading 13-10. Following a scoreless fifth inning, King reeled off nine runs between the sixth and eighth innings.
The trio of Nathan Borchardt, Josh Nuno, and Jose Ruiz recorded three hits apiece while Borchardt led the team with five RBI.
Both Peyton Starkey and Carter Potts posted four-hit games while Starkey collected a season-high six RBI to lead all players in the contest. Walker Fox added three hits and two RBI in the contest.
Mars Hill returns to South Atlantic Conference action on Saturday, April 12 when they face UVA Wise on the road. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
